Budget Manicure Review – Fortnum & Mason Beauty Rooms

23rd August 2014

I’m going to let you in on a little secret: a little luxury at a budget price. If you go to the Fortnum & Mason Beauty Rooms between 12pm and 2pm Monday – Friday, you can get a lunchtime revival. That means getting any mini treatment for £20! Clearly we opted for the mini manicure, which isn’t actually so mini.

The Fortnum Beauty Room manicure / pedicure room is wonderful! You get a sumptuously luxurious room all to yourself. My therapist was the lovely Lynette. During my mini manicure, my nails were cut, filed, scrubbed with a little brush and soapy water, cleaned, and my cuticles were tidied (but they didn’t have the full cuticle treatment). Lynette gave me a mini hand massage and then applied some very lovely Ciate hand cream. The manicure consisted of a Jessica base coat, two coats of gorgeous colour and a Jessica top coat. Lynette then cleaned with an orange stick wrapped in gauze.

I felt like a princess. You get the room all to your self. It has beautiful, pale green walls with double, white sash windows. They were playing Nora jones in the background. There was a lovely comfy chair at a very pretty table for the manicure and a throne like station for a pedicure (I’ll have to try that one of these days). Lynette was lovely to chat with and incredibly meticulous with applying polish.

The manicure lasted about 3-4 days before it started chipping. If you want a bit of luxury and pampering at a fraction of the price, definitely try to take advantage of the lunchtime revival.

  1. Honestly, because I do not get my nails done weekly or bi-weekly, I go for the gel (sylac or something like that) polish on my natural nails. On my life…these things do not chip! lol Not saying my nails don’t break or that “i need a fill-in look” doesn’t occur; but the polish stays in tact! It may be a little bit more expensive but it is so worth it (in my opinion)!

    1. Thanks for the comment! Gels work really well for some people, but I’ve found for myself, my nails are too sensitive and break once I’ve removed the gel polish xx
