Nubian Skin’s Founder, Ade Hassan, is a finalist in the Entrepreneur category of the Black British Business Awards 2016.
The Black British Business Awards recognizes, rewards and celebrates exceptional performance and outstanding achievements of black people in businesses operating in Britain and are the only premium awards programme to do so. The awards were designed to support and promote business excellence, transcend stereotypes and highlight the often unsung contributions of black business people to the British economy. The awards have been judged by a panel of business leaders across a wide range of UK industries, with the ceremony taking place at The Grange St Paul’s Hotel, London on October 6th 2016.
Nubian Skin are delighted that Ade has been recognized for her exceptional talents as an entrepreneur and look forward to the event later this year.
Ade has brought a truly innovative product to the market which was much needed not just as a fashion necessity but also on a social level. Within the lingerie industry, the scope for innovation is a bit limited, and Nubian Skin managed to do something that had an impact beyond itself.
Redefining ‘nude’, and making the term more inclusive meant their campaign went viral, and has had an influence, not just in terms of copy cats (from smaller to well-known brands) but also with other parts of the industry realising the need to be more inclusive. Testament to this are the milestones Nubian Skin have achieved. Going from 50-20,000 Instagram followers within 4 weeks of their campaign launching; being featured in some form in every major fashion magazine; supplying the wardrobes of major productions in the West End and on Broadway; and most recently being selected to provide the underpinnings for the Beyoncé Formation Tour.
